Marshall Miles Interviews Willie Hallihan, 2021 Jumpfest at Salisbury Ski Jumps Feb 12-14

Jumpfest will be back again for the 95th year, February 12 – 14 , 2021 at Satre Hill in Salisbury with a roster of exciting talented ski jumpers from Lake Placid, NY. And like everything else this past year, there will be some changes. Attendance each day will be limited to the first 400 tickets sold. This total reflects 25% of the facility’s capacity as required by State of Connecticut regulations. However additional people will be admitted as spectators leave. Free admission for Friday Night Lights! Friday night will again feature target jumping under the lights, but unfortunately, because of the pandemic, the Human Dog Sled Race has been canceled. For this reason, for Friday night only, there will be no admission fee. Food trucks will be offering various culinary choices throughout the three days of Jumpfest. Saturday morning , junior jumpers from both SWSA and Lake Placid will show what they have learned as they compete on the 20 and 30 meter hills. Action begins at 9:00 and medals will be awarded on the hill. The Development Team, an elite group of jumpers from around the country that has been training in Lake Placid will compete for trophies at the Salisbury Invitational which begins with practice at 11:00 am and competition at 1:00 pm. The Snow Ball has been canceled for this year. Sunday Exciting ski jumping continues Sunday as the same talented jumpers compete at the Eastern U.S. Ski Jumping Championships and vie for a spot on the Junior National team. Again, practice jumping runs from 11:00 am to noon and competition begins at 1:00 pm. Admittance for Saturday and Sunday events is $15 per person for adults, and children 12 and under are admitted for free. Alcoholic beverages will not be sold at Jumpfest this year. Masks are mandatory throughout the facilities as well as 6 foot social distancing. Proceeds from Jumpfest help fund SWSA’s junior ski programs and improve its facilities.
