Mets’ Alonso joins Angels’ Ohtani in All-Star Home Run Derby
The New York Mets’ Pete Alonso will defend his Home Run Derby title at Coors Field on July 12.
The Yankees outlasted the Royals Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium, 6-5, when Luke Voit’s walk-off single off the left-field wall scored pinch-runner Tyler Wade from second base, completing a two-run, come-from-behind rally that followed a two-run, come-from-behind rally in the eighth inning. The band got closer to reuniting Wednesday night, bringing with it the aura of a competent Mets lineup. There was Michael Conforto, back in the No. 3 hole and playing right field after a five-week absence. Jeff McNeil sat atop the lineup, in his third game since returning from the injured list.
Conforto and McNeil each reached base three times and Francisco Lindor delivered an early home run, helping the Mets end a two-game skid with a 7-3 victory over the Braves at Citi Field.
