
Arthur Schwartz was the restaurant critic and executive food editor of the New York Daily News for 18 years. Perhaps what he’s best known for is as a chameleon—he’s successfully worked in radio, print media, cookbook publishing, TV, and teaching.

Happy Chanukah! Thanks for Latkes recipe. I miss my Jewish neighbors, who always shared with me. Fond memory of when Chanukah and Christmas were on the same day that year. Early that frosty morning in our NJ suburb, Dorothy’s husband was making latkes and their smoke alarm went off. So he opened the front door. Out ran Shana, their Westie. Dorothy ran out into the street crying for her pup. In socks-only feet, I immediately joined her. Shana eventually returned and all was merry and bright. Chanukah and Yuletide Cheers.
