This week we explore digital dancehall’s first decade in the 80s and 90s and the foundation reggae rhythms from the 60s and 70s that were recut by producers such as King Jammy, Bobby Digital, and Steely & Clevie. Tunes and rhythms include the mighty “Cherry Oh Baby” by Eric Donaldson into Mad Cobra’s“ Tek Him”; “Death in the Arena” by the Soul Vendors and King Kong’s political “Trouble Again”; the emperor Shabba Ranks with “Just Reality” from the “Far East” rhythm, which originated from Roland Alphonso and his “Jah Shakey”; and lots more!
