The Berkshire Edge On-Air – November 6, 2019

The Berkshire Edge LLC is a locally owned, regional publication. Our goal is to provide – regularly and in depth – content that truly reflects the life, interests and aspirations of this unusually rich and vibrant community.

Guided by respected journalistic standards, the principle of fairness, the quest for truth, a commitment to social, economic and environmental justice, and an abiding admiration for the independent spirit of the Berkshires, The Berkshire Edge offers in-depth local news reports and features, perspectives on the arts, wide-ranging commentary, and a comprehensive calendar of events – all written, illustrated, and, in some cases performed, with wit, intelligence, insight and humor.

1.  Activists in Great Barrington are campaigning — and gathering signatures — to oppose the return of horse racing to the Great Barrington Fairgrounds. It’s become a hot issue for the Board of Selectmen, as the opposition to racing is being actively supported by Selectboard member Leigh Davis:

2.  Speaking of campaigns, the Berkshire League of Women Voters is on the march to increase voter turnout — just in time:

3.  With the administration of Southern Berkshire Regional School District in turmoil, students at Mt. Everett High School have weighed in — with their own newspaper.

4. The neighbors are outraged. The Great Barrington Airport is planning to add more hangars, implying more frequent takeoffs and landings:https://theberkshireedge.com/amid-an-atmosphere-of-mistrust-airport-revives-plan-for-more-hangars/

5. Finally, a memorial service is planned Sunday, November 10,   for restaurateur Michael Ballon, a pioneer in promoting the farm to table fare and supporting local sustainable agriculture:
